ATV Motorcycles
ATV motorcycles have had a rocky life introduced in the early 1970s and produced alarming injury rates for children and adolescents (mainly due to improper and irresponsible use). Reports say ATVs are as dangerous as Motorcycles, based on mortality and injury rates. Children and women are injured on ATVs, this group also have a lower rate of helmet use.
ATV Motorcycles change from the three wheel ATV to the four wheel ATV hopping to produce a safer product. But still the reports in 2005 were over 130,000 were treated in hospitals in the US alone. The injury rates are so high some of the focus has changed to machine size to usage of ATVs categorizing age with engine size.
The big problem will always be no mater the size children, adolescents and adults will always play and get wild and crazy because all ATVs are a lot of fun. Authorities want to ban them altogether and have been successful in some places.
ATV motorcycle is a motorcycle today with 4 wheels when used properly can be a fantastic tool. They are just about go anywhere work horses for rough terrain and snow. When used safely they are fantastic, when there are big properties involved the ATV is required to have.
The environmentalists criticize ATV riding as a sport because of excessive use in areas biologists consider to be sensitive. The deep treads on some ATV tires are very effective for navigating rocky, muddy and root covered terrain. The deep tread digs channels that may drain bogs, increase sedimentation in streams at crossings, damage snowmobile trails and cause destruction in many ecosystems.
ATV advocacy groups trying to save the sport have been organized to purchase property or obtain permission of landowners. Today we have clubs that build and maintain trails, suitable for ATV riding and educate ATV riders about responsible riding. These clubs are not compensated for their efforts from taxpayer money, and many have formed separate governing bodies that license ATVs separately.
Self-regulation of ATV use has proven particularly difficult. One public complaint against ATVs is excessive noise. When you add it all up we could one day lose ATVs altogether. With the majority of ATVs comply with noise regulations; there are those whose intentional violation can disturb the activities of other recreational users. Changing an ATV's exhaust silencer and spark arrestor is illegal on all US federal lands. The law enforcement is spotty at best.
A great tool in the proper environment and very dangerous in the hands of those not responsible, please spread the word and be safe. Here are some of the top listings for ATVs.
