America

Triumph's America model is powerful, solid, reliable. The 790cc, air-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder power plant provides ample power with a throaty rumble.

The 28-inch seat is ergonomically right and stylish to boot. Highway-style foot controls add to the ease of driving this mid-sized cruiser.

The look is quieter than the Daytona, with its classic gray and black color scheme and even more classic Triumph styling. Understated. The strong, silent type. This bike is reminiscent of motorcycles made 30 years ago. But like any classic design it never goes out of style.

Rocket III

For those looking for the largest of the large, Triumph offers the Rocket III. With its huge 2,294cc in-line three cylinder engine this 'car on two wheels' puts out 147 ft-lb of torque at only 2,500 rpm and 140 bhp at a low 6,000 rpm. That's power delivered under real world conditions.

Well balanced for such a large machine, the Rocket III sports chromed twin rear shocks with adjustable pre-load. It needs them with a wheelbase of not quite 67 inches (170cm), but a weight of 704 lbs (320kg). This bike is clearly only for those ready to take on a heavy bike. But driving down the road, it delivers an incredibly smooth, comfortable trip and corners well for such a big bike.

Classics

For those nostalgic for the days of Triumph's triumphs, the company offers a range of 'retro' bikes. There's the 790cc Bonneville and the 865cc Scrambler or Thruxton. All have the classic look of a Triumph from decades ago.

Upgrading the performance of the Victory is just not complete without the upgrade to the exhaust system. Two recommendations are SRVT or Hackerpipes. Requiring no frame modifications and the very best air flow are the SRVT Aces exhaust. They include heat shields and best for added performance. Using these pipes it is also recommended to add the Lloydz Victory fuel controller.

ATV motorcycles have had a rocky life introduced in the early 1970s and produced alarming injury rates for children and adolescents (mainly due to improper and irresponsible use). The Indian Motorcycle Company began as a motorcycle manufacturer located in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. The Indian is America's oldest motorcycle brand and at one time the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world. Indian’s most popular models were the Indian Scout, in production prior to WWII, and the Indian Chief, which ran from 1922 up to the demise of Indian in 1953.

Recognized as the only true rival to Harley Davidson in 1940, Indian motorcycle Co. sold almost as many Indian motorcycles as Harley Davidson. In 1940 Indian motorcycles were the only American made highway cruisers to compete with Harley Davidson.

In 1999 starting with a merger of nine companies The Indian Motorcycle Co. of America was formed. The manufacturing plant was located in Gilroy, California. Their first production motorcycles started with an updated version of the Indian Chief. Later by 2001 Indian Scout and Indian Spirit models began to appear. The Indian motorcycles produced by the new company captured the nick name “Gilroy Indian Motorcycles”.

The new company Indian Motorcycle took a huge hit in 2003 when one of their big investors backed out and forced Indian into bankruptcy.

An event to take place that may have served to breathe new life back into the famous Indian Motorcycles occurred when Arnold Schwarzenegger road a Gilroy Indian motorcycle in the Rise of the Machines movie.

By 2006 the Indian Motorcycle Company found new life in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Manufacturing a new Indian Chief centered on high quality, super performance and very exclusive. With a small numbers produced for 2009 the new Indian Chief sports a 105 cubic inch redesigned V-twin motor. The new motor has a new electronic closed loop sequential port fuel injection system.

There are some very interesting newly developed designs added to the engine that makes it unique. The designers have eliminated the cast iron liners for the cylinders by incorporating a new Nikasil plated cylinders. The frame and all body parts get e-coated and power coated that give the new Indian Chief some great corrosion protection.

The very unique new Indian Chief delivers a super smooth ride to the new 16 inch wheels with a six speed transmission via belt drive. Disk brakes by Brembo 4 piston calipers and dual rotors on the front provide great stopping power. A large fuel tank for extended cruising range comes standard. Everyone just loves the new all leather seating build to your specifications. There are four models Indian Standard, Indian Deluxe, Indian Roadmaster and the Indian Chief Vintage.

Motorcycle pricing can be from one end of the spectrum to the other. In fact, motorcycles pricing can be as different as individual bikers are different. Let me put it another way, you get what you pay for. For the entry level motorcycles pricing for basic entry level beginners or you have complex pricing structures for customized motorcycles made for experienced and knowledgeable riders.

On the low side of the motorcycles pricing scale are the basic starter level bikes. Prices come in at around twenty five hundred dollars for bare minimum, rear drum brake, 125cc engine, cruiser-type bike and scooters. Costs then rise to more than seventy five thousand dollars because a fully loaded chopper where every detail and lots of chrome is going to cost you.

Along the center of the normal valuation spectrum you'll find motorcycles in the range of six thousand to almost twenty four thousand. Most bikes fall within this category and motorcycles pricing will reflect any custom work. Form super quick sport bikes to upgraded better than entry level cruisers, you can start seeing what amounts to the top of the line for low end motorcycles and the bottom of the line for high end bikes. This is where the smaller priced versions of the more costly bikes begin.

Looking at motorcycles in the mid-range pricing you can find the basic touring models and some of the more stylized cruisers. Premium touches such as powder coating or chrome finishes will be lacking. That's not to say you'll be sacrificing quality. You'll still be getting your basic components such as engine size, gears, fuel capacity, etc., but the cosmetic finishes will be plain vanilla. Finishes will be durable for the class of bike, but nothing fancy. Prices here also reflect differences in wheel and tire sizes.

When you get to the $15,000 mark, you'll be in custom territory. At this price-range, options such as ABS brakes, air bags and classy saddle bags are available. Make it twenty thousand or more and you could revel in feature such as reverse, heated grips, heated seats, rider to passenger communication systems and windshields and kickstands that are operated electronically.

Any motorcyclist who has ridden on a chilly winter's day will truly appreciate one feature that is available in the higher end of the motorcycles pricing range. This accessory is known as a proximity key. With this key inside your pocket you could start up and operate your bike without ever having to remove your gloves. When it's below 32 degrees out there, the proximity key is worth its weight in gold.

For the novice rider, motorcycles pricing can be a bit confusing, but once you understand what features are considered upgrades and which are standard for the type of bike you want, you'll see that it becomes easier o research your dream bike. Customizing to the max for a low end bike may not be the best use of your budget if you can get the same or better functionality with an entry level model of a higher end make. At that point, you're only limited by your budget.

As more choices become available, pricing for customizing your own set of wheels is no longer prohibitive. If you can dream it, you can build it, subject only to your budget.

With custom built motorcycles, you can decide whatever changes and components you need to truly make your bike your own. Whether the chopper style, custom frame design, super stretched or compact, you get to decide. You can choose the components for the drive train as well as run all cables and wires through the frame to gain a neat clean appearance.

Selecting engine size, horsepower and torque are all up to you. If you want the latest in technology but prefer the classic lines of a vintage bike, there is no reason why you can't incorporate that technology in custom built your own motorcycle while preserving the look and feel of a bike made from a bygone era.

You can set up your transmission as five or six speed and choose between hand or foot-shifted and today there is automatic. With custom built motorcycles, how you decide to route the engine's power to the drive wheel is entirely up to you. Although mechanisms such as belt or chain drive are more commonly used, you can opt for drive shaft or even the more complex gear drive to transmit power to the drive wheel. Brake choices are also available, so if dual disk is your preference, you can set it up.
